Two weekends in a row and I found time to work on my project. How did that happen? Who knows? All I know is that I was able to make some progress on my project! I have to remember when I am doing this to enjoy the process and not focus on the outcome. If I do the little things right and take my time along the way, the finished project turns out much, much better. I wonder if I’ll have time tomorrow?
It was organized when I started, I swear!
Taking the time to get this set up right paid off.
Here’s a lesson for you youngsters: ALWAYS DO PRACTICE CUTS ON SCRAP WOOD! The cut is supposed to be on the side of the line where the “X’s” are. Oops. (Better there than the project wood!)
This spacer was a key item to make sure I don’t do what I did in the previous picture.
Don’t ever take your set up down until you are completely sure you are done making cuts. This is still set up as I type!
Success! The parts with the “X’s” are the parts that will get cut away. I always like to leave some room and work my way up to the layout lines for a tight fit.
I still have some work to do with my chisels but the preliminary fit is good. It actually worked!
