The Teacher Team Blog Refresh! →

Hello blog friends! It’s John and Carol back in action,

Our summer has been crazy busy, and crazy fun. We’ve ventured on trips with friends, worked on TPT copiously, and have fallen in love with fitness all over again. The SoCal weather has been perfect for laying out by the pool, relaxing with a good book, and grilling! This has been the first summer in YEARS that we’ve actually had a chance to focus on really enjoying ourselves, and all of what this season has to offer. Here’s some of our favorite things to do during the day:

Carol- “I love just going with the flow, especially when it comes to sleeping in. Summer makes me slow down, in a good way; waking up, drinking coffee, and being able to work out whenever I want. Summer’s also the time where I get to focus on myself and what I like to do, getting to read some popular novels, enjoying time with my family, and maybe even catching up on some reality T.V. (Yes I love my Bravo TV network, and Live P.D. as much as the next person!)

John- “I maintain somewhat of a schedule during summer, however, it’s filled with more activities that I like doing and what I don’t have time for normally during the school year. I usually work out, read, watch baseball (Go Angels!), and woodwork on my long term projects. Carol and I like to catch up on shows that we’ve been watching on Netflix like Peaky Blinders and Bosch. Any show and movie recommendations are welcome (but no I haven’t seen Stranger Things).”

Hopefully within these next couple months well be able to create more content and be able to connect all of our teacher friends! Here’s a few examples of what we’ve been working on this summer aside from our blog refresh; come check them out if you have a chance! Above we have pictures of our units and below are the links to visit the resources on our site!

Reach for Reading Activities and Resources for 3rd Grade

Reach for Reading Activities and Resources for 3rd Grade

Many school districts have recently adopted a brand new English Language Arts curriculum created by National Geographic called “Reach for Reading”.  Once a new curriculum has been adopted, it can be a HUGE challenge sifting through all of the materials received, and it takes quite a while for teachers to sort through all of these materials. read more

Second Grade Reading and ELA Common Core Literacy Standards

Second Grade Reading and ELA Common Core Literacy Standards

There are so many ELA standards to teach in second grade! Within your reading and writing ELA block, it’s hard to know where to start. If you are using a reading program such as Journeys, Wonders, Reading Street, Storytown, or Open Court, standards are referenced and are sprinkled throughout your TE. But how do you know if you are hitting all of the standards that your students need to learn? This was the impetus for the creation of our new product line.

Because we use Chromebooks and iPads within our classrooms, we have the ability to use our technology to help us teach these ELA standards. In order to make sure we are teaching all of the key standards, we created a resource for each standard. For second grade, we have made Google based interactive resources to teach and practice each standard. We started with the Literacy standards. Here are the new resources that we’ve developed:

Use technology to teach English Language Arts
Google Second Grade ELA Literacy Bundle
Second Grade ELA Common Core Literacy Standards
Teach Collective Nouns, Irregular Plural Nouns, Reflexive Pronouns, Past Tense Irregular Verbs, and Nouns, Pronouns, Adjectives and Adverbs

This bundle can be used with any ELA reading curriculum, book, or story! This product is perfect for Daily 5 Word Work rotations, ELA Centers, STATIONS, SMALL GROUPS, EARLY FINISHERS, Sub Plans, or WHOLE CLASS instruction using Google Classroom.

Aligns with SIX Common Core STANDARDS- L.2.1a, L.2.1.b, L.2.1.c, L.2.1.d, L.2.1.e, L.2.1.f.
