Carol Here: We had the great pleasure of going to the “Southern California Back to School Blogger Beach Bash” last weekend and we were able to meet some other teachers/bloggers from SoCal. We met up at Sandy’s Restaurant in Huntington Beach just a stone’s throw from the Huntington Beach pier.
We initially sat with Jonathan and Lisa Stephens of http://createdforlearning.blogspot.com/ and Kristen Konechy of http://theimaginationnook.blogspot.com/ (I’ll see you in October ;)).
We also met Fran Kramer of http://kindergartencrayons.blogspot.com/ who teaches elementary in John’s district. She is a hoot! It was great getting to know teachers from around our area and chatting over an early dinner. Communication over the internet and blogosphere is great but bouncing ideas off other people in person really reminds you of how connections really work. It also reminds you that the concerns, worries, and questions you have, also seem to be shared by everybody else. The things that these people are doing in their classrooms, stores and blogs are nothing short of miraculous (most of us have families too, you know?). We want to thank Hadar from http://www.miss-kindergarten.com/ , Christy from http://crayonsandwhimsy.blogspot.com/ and Aris from http://www.sailingintosecond.com/ for putting this together.
For our first meet up we were very grateful to be able to participate and are looking forward to seeing these teacher/bloggers again so we can get to know them better!
Talk to you soon!
Carol
