I could really go on for a while, and there will definitely be some fall blog posts coming up-stay tuned! But for now, there’s something more pertinent I thought we needed to talk about first, which is… SHOPPING! I’ve seen so many good deals lately that I thought I’d share some of the products I’ve had on my wishlist, on my mind, and especially in my cart!

My go to’s when shopping are always the deals/sales first, and then all the new products launched that season, so I can kind of gage what I can wait on (sale wise), and then see what I absolutely can’t live without. My eye catchers are usually makeup, boots, jackets, classic closet staples, and skincare. So let’s look at some of the great finds from my holy grail a.k.a. #Target

L’Oreal Paris Collagen Moisture Filler Day/Night Cream 1.7oz

Only $8.99- I love this moisturizer and it’s a perfect drugstore skincare product for a bargain!

Cutest pair of heels-perfect shoe to dress up or down and they look like Steve Maddens for half the price! There are a couple other colors/styles that look like this as well at Target and I want them ALL- Priced at $32.99

Cute n’ comfy graphic top! I always have fun getting a new funny/quirky/witty shirt especially when it involves napping!

Priced $12.99

Faux Leather Moto Jacket- A great staple for anyone’s closet. Perfect to wear with jeans, boots, dresses etc.

Priced: $35.00

Teachers Celebrate the Journey!

Teachers Celebrate the Journey!

As I think about our health and fitness journeys, we all want to achieve these goals, but often fall short. Why is that, do you think? If you’re like me, you often can become frustrated when we don’t achieve the immediate results we are looking for. One of my coaches at one of my gyms recently discussed this subject.

“The problem comes when we become obsessed with the results we want and forget about the process that will get us there. When you become too focused on the result you want to achieve, you can actually program yourself into a negative mindset.  If your goal is to lose 20 pounds and you become consumed with that goal, you subconsciously tell yourself “I won’t be happy until I lose 20 pounds”. These are outcome goals.

Now you are focusing on what you don’t have rather than what is under your control.  The thing that you’re unhappy with dominates your thoughts, and you can end up being unhappy while you are trying to reach your goal because you think you don’t “deserve” to be happy until you lose the weight.

Process goals, on the other hand are all about the process.

They are about doing the right thing, regardless of the outcome, knowing that the right activities will lead you to ultimate victory.” (Coach Mike, East Orange Fit Body Bootcamp, 6-17). read more

Summer Mud Runs!

People wonder, “What would be the best way to kick off summer?”. For me that’s easy! Grab some family and friends, get some outdoor exercise, and have some fun! That’s just what we did yesterday at our annual Irvine Lake Mud Run! It made it extra special this year because my daughter Sarah ran with us, and it was her first mud run. Trust me, she’s hooked!

Throughout the years, our mud run fun has been my teacher friends Carrie and Tara, who have been my life long running buddies. As you wrap up each school year funning through mud pits, sliding down slides into “mud swimming holes”, and climbing over various obstacles is how we let off steam from the last weeks of school. Here are some prior mud run pictures.

This year I was lucky enough to run with even more friends, because of my gyms (I belong to two!) brought a team of 70 friends to enjoy the mud fun. Here’s our team picture of our first annual “East Orange Fit Body Boot Camp” Irvine Lake Mud Run.

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think!
