A REAL Way to do Distance Learning

A REAL Way to do Distance Learning

As we head into what will likely be the strangest school year in our lifetime, you are probably wondering , “What will school look like this year?” No one really knows. We are bombarded with so many “distance learning” options. These “options” make it sound like, “If you just used this model, your problems will be solved!”.  Some of  these “options” are simply printable resources that you still will either have to physically deliver to the student or printable resources that you will have to somehow convert to a digital platform.

We think we have a solution for that problem.  We have combined printed resources and online Google slides digital resources into one bundled resource. Fluidity needs to be built into our model this year since the students in our classroom may start as distance learners, then come back to the classroom, and possibly back to distance learning at some point. We need the capability of supporting student learning, regardless of where they are sitting. There may be very little time to recalibrate, so it makes sense to plan for that eventuality.

We would like to introduce our BLENDED RESOURCES. In these resources we include the printable version and a Google slide version so you can keep up with your curriculum without having to re-invent the wheel. Consider:

  • Platform neutral flexibility (home and school learning) with curriculum (print or online)
  • Students learn the same curriculum at the same time, regardless of where they are “sitting”
  • Compatible with all major education platforms: Edmodo – Schoology – Microsoft One Drive – Notability – Nearpod – Canvas – Blackboard – Pic Collage – Seesaw – Padlet – Evernote – INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED!
  • Answer keys provided (where applicable)
  • We are blending our Journeys, Reach for Reading, and Wonders resources.
  • in our store, click on “custom categories” to find the resources you need
  • We will continue to provide blended resources as we move forward into the future.

We are converting our Journeys stories to blended bundles. Click on “Custom Categories” for individual story resources. Here are some resources we’ve retrofitted:

I could really go on for a while, and there will definitely be some fall blog posts coming up-stay tuned! But for now, there’s something more pertinent I thought we needed to talk about first, which is… SHOPPING! I’ve seen so many good deals lately that I thought I’d share some of the products I’ve had on my wishlist, on my mind, and especially in my cart!

My go to’s when shopping are always the deals/sales first, and then all the new products launched that season, so I can kind of gage what I can wait on (sale wise), and then see what I absolutely can’t live without. My eye catchers are usually makeup, boots, jackets, classic closet staples, and skincare. So let’s look at some of the great finds from my holy grail a.k.a. #Target

What’s for dinner?

What’s for dinner?

Welcome back everyone!

It has been a crazy, hectic, restless week. We are officially back in school, and most importantly, we’re in back to school MODE. This essentially means that everything gets pushed to the weekend, dishes pile up constantly in the kitchen because we’re exhausted by the time we get home, and we’re falling asleep by 8:15 PM. This usually happens in the first few weeks until we finally find our groove again (and our caffeine fixes). Back to school mode is no joke, and neither is the monumental whirlwind of realizing that there are never enough hours in a day to finish everything you need to.

So what’s the hardest thing to do when you get home after a long day of work?…. cook. That’s the hardest thing for us to do the first couple weeks back because it’s just one thing on top of another it seems like. So this week on the blog, we’re giving ourselves a grace period, and finding dinners that are simple, fast, and (somewhat healthy)… like I said a grace period.

We thought it was a great time to put some of these recipes up for you guys because we’re all struggling with the same thing! This time of year definitely kicks all of us into overdrive. Here are some recipes we’ve tried and found useful for those days where you really just don’t want to cook. If you have any other recipes or suggestions for some quick cooking that you love always feel free to message us at @theteacherteam! Enjoy-
